Tribute to KISS, Cars and Kids Slated for Concert Series Finale this Saturday at the O.C. Market Place

Costa Mesa, CA (October 26, 2010)--Two diverse attractions will come together for a special Halloween event Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Orange County Market Place, the weekend swap meet at the O.C. Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. A KISS tribute band and a car show benefiting Children’s Hospital of Orange County will share the spotlight. Both events are free with a canned food donation. Gods of Thunder, a tribute band dedicated to authentically replicating the rock and roll band KISS; will perform shows at noon and 2 p.m., which will also be the finale of the Second Annual Fall Concert Series at the Market Place.
The band presents a re-creation of a 1970’s KISS concert including wearing costumes, platform boots and signature make-up sported by the glam rock band during the Dressed to Kill, Alive & Love Gun tours. Along with precise musicianship, Gods of Thunder includes Armando Cisneros as the Demon aka Gene Simmons’ complete with blood spitting and fire breathing. Also Len Ayala fills in as “Space Ace” Frehley including performing a similar smoking guitar solo. Paul Delis is the “Starchild“and accurately imitates Paul Stanley’s stage antics. Carl Marrelli as “Catman” duplicates Peter Criss’s blistering drum solo and vocals. Signs, sirens, firehouse lights, smoke and the Paul Stanley Firehat along with identical instruments to the real KISS band are all part of Gods of Thunder’s theatrical presentation of their favorite band. Adjacent to the concert stage, all makes and models of cars, trucks and motorcycles will be gathered for the inaugural Cruisin’ for Kids Car Show benefiting CHOC - Children’s Hospital of Orange County. The event presented by California Furnishings Suppliers Association (CFSA) runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include an auction and opportunity drawings for more than $25,000 in new furniture such as sectional couches and dining room furnishings. Admission to the Saturday concerts and car show is free with a canned food donation to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and includes the swap meet. Regular admission is $2 and free for children 12 and under. Free parking is available and preferred parking is $5. In its 41st year, the swap meet operates every Saturday and Sunday except during the annual Orange County Fair. Hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features nearly 1,000 vendors, food concessions, fresh produce, hair salon, luxury used cars, artisans and crafters, manufactured homes, kid’s playground and much more.
